Ekurhuleni East TVET College launches student support room at Springs Campus
A new facility at Ekurhuleni East TVET College’s Springs Campus aims to give students a place to seek help with mental health, gender-based violence among other challenges.
Ekurhuleni East TVET College and Higher Health launched a comfort room at the college’s Springs Campus on August 20, providing students with access to support for mental health, gender-based violence, HIV and psychosocial well-being.
The launch was attended by Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Nomusa Dube-Ncube, and Deputy Minister in the Presidency for Women, Youth and Persons with Disabilities, Mmapaseka Steve Letsike, who delivered the keynote address.
“The comfort room provides a safe, supportive and stigma-free space where students can access support relating to mental health, gender-based violence, HIV, psychosocial wellbeing and other challenges that may affect their personal and academic journeys,” the institution said.
