taxi hijacked in Reedville

No one was injured during a taxi hijacking in Reedville

No shots were fired when a local taxi was hijacked by two suspects on Saturday night at Reedville.

Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police, says the hijacking happened around 7pm.

He says the taxi driver, who was with two passengers in the car, gave a lift to two suspects who pretended to be desperate for transport from KwaThema to Reedville.

Ramphora continues to say that the two suspects assaulted the driver, demanding money before the driver tried to escape.

However, the suspects caught him and robbed him of an undisclosed amount of cash and his vehicle’s keys.

The suspects drove off with the other two passengers who were still inside the taxi.

No arrests have been made in connection with the incident and a case of car hijacking has been opened.
