Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the two men were fighting on Saturday afternoon, when one was allegedly stabbed.
He says the police, who were patrolling in that area, received a tip-off about an assault and rushed to the scene.
“When the police arrived on the scene, the men were already inside an ambulance,” says Ramphora.
He added that one man told the police that he was stabbed by the suspect while the alleged stabber was assaulted by angry community members following a fight between the two men.
The motive behind the fight is still unknown and the alleged stabber was taken to the police cells after he was treated for minor injuries at the Far East Rand Hospital.
A case of attempted murder was opened and the suspect is expected to appear in the Springs Magistrate’s Court soon.
