Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says it is alleged that the deceased had a fight with a suspect in a tavern.
He says according to the eye-witness, the fight started after the suspect went to a toilet and on his return, the deceased was occupying his seat.
He says the suspect then demanded his seat and assaulted the victim.
“The police received a tip-off about the assault and when they arrived on the scene the suspect had already left,” says Ramphora.
He added that the deceased suffered severe head injuries and his body was found 100 metres from the tavern.
