A house robbery that occurred on Monday night in Reedville left the father injured and robbers fled the scene with all the money.
Captain Johannes Ramphora of the Springs police says the family hosted a stokvel until around 11pm.
He says when one of the family’s sons and his friends were removing the tent that was used to host the stokvel, four BMW cars stopped next to them.
A group of suspects armed with firearms jumped out of the cars and went to the house.
“The suspects shot the boy’s father, took cell phones before taking all the stokvel money,” says Ramphora.
The man was later taken to the Far East Rand Hospital for treatment.
A case of house robbery has been opened, no arrest has been made and the motive behind the robbery is still unknown.
