Business robbery in Everest

Another tuck shop owner was robbed by three suspects

Three suspects robbed a tuck shop owner on Sunday around 10pm at Gugulethu/Everest informal settlement.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says the three suspects, armed with firearms, pretended to be customers and bought cigarettes.

He says one of the suspects covered his face with a balaclava while the other two suspects’ faces were not covered.

Seeing that they were the only customers left inside the shop with the shop owner, one of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim and demanded cash from him.

They fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and airtime vouchers.

A case of business robbery has been opened by the Springs police and no arrest has been made.

If you have information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects, you are urged to call the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
