Another tuck shop robbery in Everest

Another business robbery occurred in Gugulethu/Everest

It seems as if reports of tuck shop robbery cases in Gugulethu/Everest are increasing by the day.

This follows yet another robbery in that area last Wednesday at around 7pm.

Springs police spokesman Captain Johannes Ramphora says three suspects who were wearing balaclavas pretended to be customers.

He says the suspects enquired about the price of a loaf of white bread but the tuck shop cashier allegedly felt uncomfortable.

Due to this fear, the cashier took out two apples and put them on the table.

“It is alleged that the suspects got furious with the cashier’s reaction and pointed a firearm at him while also demanding cash from him,” says Ramphora.

He added that when the victim tried to escape from the scene, one of the suspects fired shots at him but fortunately the bullet missed him.

The suspects fled the scene with an undisclosed amount of cash.

The police opened a business robbery case and no arrests have been made yet.

Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects should call the Springs police on 011 365 5700/19/20.
