KwaThema Stimulation Centre gets R5 000
KwaThema Stimulation Centre received a cheque of R5000 from a local choir
The East Rand Male Symphony Choir donated a cheque for R 5 000 to KwaThema Stimulation Centre on Friday.
The choir, that consists of 65 members, was formed 24 years ago by male singers from KwaThema.
To spend their 67 minutes for Mandela Day, the choir spent time with the disabled children at the centre while also entertaining them through their sweet melody.
Speaking on behalf of the choir’s general secretary, Rama Mogaswane said the money that they donated to the centre was raised in a concert that was held at Lefa Ifa Secondary School in March this year.
“We identified a charity centre that we want to partner with before organising a concert so that all the money made at the event will be donated to help care for the needy,” said Mogaswane.
He added that because KwaThema is where they receive more support and love, they wanted to give back to the community that has put them where they are today.
On the day, the choir also pledged to continue their relationship with the centre, helping them in whatever way that they can.
“This is the first choir to donate to our centre and we are grateful that they have not forgotten about helping their community,” said Mirriam Ndebele, founder of the centre.
She said the 84 children at the centre had a reason to put a smile on their faces knowing that there are people who care for them.
