Write about OR Tambo

The metro calls on learners from Grades Five to Grade 11 to enter a writing competition.

Are we walking in the footsteps of OR Tambo?, is the subject of the schools’ essay competition the City of Ekurhuleni launched to commemorate Tambo.

The metro calls on learners from Grades Five to Grade 11 to submit their responses to this question.

This will be the first of its kind competition for learners in Ekurhuleni.

The aim is to unleash the writing potential amongst learners and to instill in them some life lessons by challenging them to reflect on the principled life led by Tambo.

The learners will be required to do research and visit the exhibitions currently on display at libraries across Ekurhuleni to obtain information on Tambo’s life and legacy.

There are three categories – junior (Grades five to seven), intermediate (Grades eight to nine) and senior for (Grades 10 to 11).

Winners in these categories stand a chance to win tablets, e-book readers, MP3 players and more.

Entry forms are available at the libraries or electronically at Ben.Segabutla@ekurhuleni.gov.za or Bafana.Mohulo@ekurhuleni.gov.za.

The closing date for submissions is October 23 and the prize giving ceremony will take place on October 27 during the OR Tambo memorial lecture gala dinner.
