Road blocked by a fallen tree

Motorists who use Geluksdal Road had to use another road after the tree blocked the road at around 2.30pm last Thursday.

The wind that no one thought would do any damage, saw one of the big trees next to the Geluksdal Road falling down and blocking the road.

The incident left residents in Tsakane without electricity for about five hours.

Pilot Mawela, the eye witness from KwaThema said a few seconds after he passed the tree on his way to Tsakane, he heard a big bang behind.

He said he pulled off from the road and was shocked to see a tree lying on the road, making it difficult for the motorists to pass.

“I still thank God who saved me as the incident happened after about four seconds I passed there,” said Mawela.

He explained that he uses that road about five times a day and that he is still shocked.
“It will take time for me to feel free to use that road again,” said Mawela.

The EMPD were called into the scene to control the traffic and to get the tree removed from the road.

No comment was received from the EMPD by the time of going to print.
