Stop hijackers in their tracks

Lieutenant Colonel Louise Droskie, Duduza station commander gives advice to the community to avoid hijackings especially during the night.

Here are the tips while driving

n Keep your car in good working order and the petrol tank at least half full.

n Avoid parking your car in a dark place.

n Always lock your car doors, even if you will be gone only a short time.

n When you return to your car, have the key ready and check all seats and the floor before getting into the vehicle.

n Drive with all the doors locked.

n Do not give lift to strangers.

n If you are being followed, do not drive home but drive to the nearest police or fire station or to place where you can safely contact the police.

n Do not leave your car unless you are certain that you can walk inside the building safely and try to get the licence plate number and the description of the car following you.
