New e-toll dispensation to be announced today

Motorists will soon hear about the new e-toll arrangement in an announcement made by Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa.

Many South Africans have found the e-tolls system to be unaffordable‚ unfair and inconvenient.

The Deputy President is expected to announce, today, more ways to pay for e-tolls.

In a statement from the Democratic Alliance (DA) it states that according to the department of transport, there has been a dramatic drop in the number of people registering for e-tolls since January, as well as a steady decline in revenue collected.

John Moodey, MPL of DA Gauteng, says people are feeling the financial crunch of increases in municipal rates, electricity, petrol and income tax, and are simply not willing or able to pay e-tolls.

Look out for the results of the announcement that will shortly follow.
