Duduza taxi drivers honour the youth of 1976

Duduza - The Nigel Taxi Association donned school uniforms in celebration of Youth Day.

They observed the day at the Extension 15 Taxi Rank on Tuesday.

Association member Musa Mthembu says the aim of the event was to remember what happened in South Africa in June 1976.

“We remember the fallen heroes and the people who died to shape our country,” he says.

Mthembu says the courage shown by this generation inspires him.

He says the association also used the day to launch their new funeral scheme because the taxi industry is full of young taxi drivers who are unable to pay for funerals or bury their loved ones.
