KwaThema police spokesman Capt Thabo Sibuyi says the mother and her son (ages unknown) were on their way home after she withdrew money at a bank in Springs.
“The woman claims when she arrived at home at 11am, she saw a grey vehicle passing her house, but took no notice of it,” he says.
The money was allegedly in her handbag as she entered her bedroom.
At the time the woman heard someone screaming and saw two suspects enter her bedroom.

A third suspect was not with the duo at the time.
Sibuyi says one of the suspects, who was armed with a firearm, pointed the gun at her and ordered her to hand over her handbag.
The handbag contained R11 500 and the woman’s cellphone.
“When the three suspects left the house the armed suspect fired a shot, but no one was injured,” says Sibuyi.

The trio got away with the handbag and its contents as well as a laptop and chronic medication.
Sibuyi says the woman did not stipulate who the medication belonged to and what it was for.
