Concerned with the amount of car theft and hijackings in the area, police have issued a warning to motorists to avoid being easy targets for such incidents.
Police spokesman, Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu, says they’re pleading with the community to increase security measures for their motor vehicles, so they won’t become victims.

“We’re pleading with drivers to put a lockable pole behind the vehicle, if parked outside.
“Motorists should also install a gear lock, use a steering lock and have an anti-hijacking system.
“Further, we encourage the use of tracking devices for all vehicles,” she says.

Mngomezulu adds that motorists should avoid parking outside the yard – and sitting inside the vehicle at night.
And most importantly, if you suspect that you are being or have been followed, drive straight to a police station instead of going home.
