Suspect dies after being shot

KwaThema - SAPS have arrested one of the men suspected of robbing a man at Thema Road in KwaThema on Saturday.

His accomplice, a 47-year-old, who was allegedly shot by a robbery victim, died on arrival at Pholosong Hospital.

Capt Thabo Sibuyi, KwaThema police spokesman, says they received information about a shooting at 3.05am and when they arrived on the scene they found a wounded man lying on the ground.

“The man (age unknown) was half-naked and was bleeding profusely,” he says.

Sibuyi says the deceased and his accomplice allegedly robbed a man of his wallet, which contained bank cards and an undisclosed amount of cash.

During the robbery the deceased was shot in the thigh and his accomplice was assaulted.

“The assaulted man sustained minor injuries,” says Sibuyi.

Paramedics treated the deceased on the scene and transported him to Pholosong Hospital, where he died on arrival.

The suspect will appear in court soon.
