Springs police arrested the first man at 1.45pm for possession of a stolen vehicle on the corner of Thema and Tsindi roads, KwaThema.
The suspect (37), who is from Vosloorus, was driving a white Isuzu double cab when he was stopped by police – who were on a routine patrol when they noticed the suspicious-looking vehicle.

According to SAPS spokesman Capt Johannes Ramphora, “When the police stopped the vehicle the driver couldn’t provide them with the necessary documents to prove that the vehicle belonged to him.”
Then, a further two suspects were arrested late on Monday afternoon in KwaThema, said Capt Ramphora.
These two suspects are 30 and 31 years of age, he explained, and used a VW Polo to transport their accomplice to the intersection where the Isuzu was stolen.

Meanwhile, the owner of the Isuzu double cab wasn’t even aware that his vehicle had been stolen.
Ramphora says the owner, who lives in Springs, was attending a funeral and when he went outside he noticed his vehicle was no longer parked where he had left it.
The suspects will remain in the police cells until their first court appearance.
