KwaThema – Four men were injured by four unknown men during a house robbery in Extension Three along Mafosi Street last Wednesday.
It is alleged in the early hours of the morning, while the complainant was sleeping inside his backyard shack with his wife and child, he heard the door chain being broken.
Police spokesperson Capt Thabo Sibuyi says the two unknown men who gained entry to the shack were armed with firearms.
“They told him not to make a noise and demanded money.
“When he told them he didn’t have any, they searched his trousers, which held his wallet with R1 840.
“They took the money and forced him to walk with them outside to another shack in the same yard.
“There they found another two armed men.
“The two men residing in that shack were already being assaulted and were bleeding.
“The complainant alleges that the men then started assaulting him too and stabbed him in both his feet with a knife while still making demands,” he says.
“While the residents were still inside the second shack, they heard shots being fired outside and a car driving off.
“The robbers took a microwave, a pair of sneakers, one pair of sandals and about six cellphones.
“It was later discovered that the person who was shot outside, on the street, was his neighbour (30).
“He was shot in the hip. The motive for the shooting is not yet clear.
“All four men were taken to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
“The wife and child were unharmed during the incident,” he says.
Sibuyi confirms no arrests have been made and a case of house robbery is being investigated by the local police.
“Anyone with information that can help the police can contact KwaThema Detectives on 011 812 4600,” he says.
