KwaThema – Two friends were robbed while at their home in Extension Three, along Mxhasa Street last Sunday night.
According to the police spokesperson, Capt Thabo Sibuyi, it is alleged at about 9pm a 29-year-old complainant was asleep with her friend.
“She was woken up by a knock on the door and a man, with a familiar voice, called her by name and asked her to open for him.
“As she opened she saw a man she knows who reside along the same street as her.
“However, he was with another man who is unknown to her and they went inside the house.
“The known man told the complainant he was selling a cellphone and she told him that she did not have money.
“The two men were sitting in the lounge. They stood up and she thought they were leaving. However, the two men then took out knives,” explains Sibuyi.
Sibuyi says the known man allegedly demanded a cellphone and the complainant told him it was in the bedroom.
“With a knife in hand, the man’s friend went to the room and found the complainant’s friend sleeping.
“From there, the known man also pushed the complainant into the same bedroom and he entered as well.”
He took the cellphone which was charging and another which was on the dressing table.
At the time, the complainant’s friend had woken up and was standing in the corner of the bedroom.
“The thieves proceeded to search the wardrobe drawers, pulled up the mattress and allegedly took an amount of R3 500,” he says.
Sibuyi says the known suspect then told the friends not to come out of the bedroom. They took the key and locked them in and left with it.
