Suspects break into store in Barcelona

“We are urging anyone with information about the suspects whereabouts to come forward”.

KwaThema – Suspects fled with valuables and cash, all to the value of R20 000, during a business robbery along Kotobe Street in Barcelona at about 2am on Sunday.

KwaThema police spokesperson Captain Thabo Sibuyi says the victim woke up when he heard people breaking into the tuck shop.

“He saw two suspects with their faces covered with cloths.

“They were armed with firearms.

“They fired three shots, damaging the door frame and the refrigerator.”

One of the suspects pointed a firearm at the victim through the window.

The other suspect damaged the door to gain entry to the premises.

“He demanded money and took the R7 000 which was in the store, eight boxes of cigarettes and two cellphones,” Sibuyi says.

Sibuyi says no one has been arrested to date.

“We are urging anyone with information about the suspects’ whereabouts to come forward,” he says.
