Residents demand answers from councillor
“Our children deserve the best facilities like those around the country; we will not sit around and act as if we don’t care.”
Tsakane – The residents in Tsakane Extension Eight are concerned about the state of the art Tsakane Early Childhood Development Centre which has been a white elephant for over a year after completion.
Residents allege the building was meant to be handed over to the community last year in October but it was later postponed to January and then postponed to early March.
A security guard, who was found at the premises, who refused to be named, said the building is empty and no one knows when it will start operating.

“We are guarding an empty building, there is nothing inside and there is no sign that it will start functioning any time soon,” he explained.
Concerned resident Ntokozo Zwane says they were hopeful when they heard the news that their children will have access to a better equipped early learning centre in the area.
“They no longer have to travel to Springs or other areas to access better education.
“At this point we feel this will turn into a statistic of the services and facilities which are failed projects.
“We have tried engaging with Ward 112 Clr Annah Mnguni to find out what is happening with the developments but she always tells us that the date of the opening with be communicated soon,” he explains.
Another resident Jabulane Ngcobo says they want to hold their leaders accountable to deliver on their promises.
“Our children deserve the best facilities like those around the country; we will not sit around and act as if we don’t care.
“We were promised that this facility will provide that but now that construction has been completed nothing has been said about the opening,” he says.
When asked for comment Mnguni said she will not address the residents through African Reporter.
“Those who are concerned should come to my offices or attend public meetings,” she says.
