Smiles all round as Methodist Church choir washes cars to raise funds

Although the convention will be a closed event, the church will host a choir festival on May 11 where the public will be able to be serenaded by Methodist Church choirs from Swaziland, Tembisa, Katlehong, Vosloorus, Benoni, Kwatsaduza, Ratanda and the Vaal.

KwaThema – Members of the St Matthews Methodist Church Choir held a car wash fund-raising project to raise funds for their choir convention that will be held from May 9 to 12.

“We are expecting around 300 delegates from our district which covers the Vaal Triangle, East Rand, the South-Eastern parts of the Mpumalanga and the Kingdom of Swaziland.” says conductor and chairperson of Zone 3 Methodist Church Choirs and the KwaThema Central Methodist Church, Ludumo Magangane.

Zone 3 Methodist Church Choir consists of Methodist Church choirs from Tsakane, KwaThema, Duduza and Ratanda.

“We needed to raise funds to cater for all our expected guests, and out of that the idea of the car wash was born.” he continues.

According to Magangane, the car wash was a success as there was a part of the day where the cars came streaming in.

“It is said that Methodism was born in song. The community must come and find out what we mean when we say that.” says Magangane.

The church will also host a gala dinner on April 12 at 6.30pm.

The dinner and the convention will both be held at the KwaThema Methodist Church on Kgaswane Street.
