Entrepreneurs advised on a path to financial freedom
So informative was the session that one of the attendees asked to be part of a workshop Jones was hosting the following day.
Springs – The African Reporter, Eastern Gauteng Business Linkage Centre (BLC) and Eastern Gauteng Chamber of Commerce and Industry (EGCCI) hosted a workshop for would-be small- and medium-sized enterprise business owners at the BLC last Friday to inform entrepreneurs about the offerings of the BLC.
African Reporter editor Samantha Keogh introduced the around 30 attendees to the paper’s vendor programme and explained how the programme can assist them on their way to financial freedom.

“The programme gives you the freedom to decide how many papers you want to sell, thus allowing you to determine the income you generate for yourself each week,” says Keogh.
The vendor programme entails vendors registering with distribution consultant Lea-Anne Swanepoel and ordering newspapers that they will sell, making 100 per cent profit for themselves.
“When you order at least 200 copies for a period of six months without skipping a week, you qualify for the Vendor Loyalty Payout,” Keogh explains.
The Vendor Loyalty Payout is paid out to loyal vendors in June for sales made from January to June and in December for sales made from July to December at a rate of 22c per paper sold in the six month period.
BLC manager Fred Jones spoke to the attendees on what the BLC offers and gave them informative tips on how to ensure the success of their businesses.
He touched on the need for a well thought out business plan and SWOT analysis, being Sars compliance, registering your business and how to manage staff, sales and marketing.
“We have about 15 training modules on offer and we select which one of those is suitable for you,” explains Jones, who offers an extensive range of courses aimed at empowering people to make their new companies successful.
