KwaThema sports awareness campaign

Senior teams will undergo a skills assessment at Bulithando Park on April 20.

KwaThema – The KwaThema Sports Committee will be hosting an awareness campaign starting on April 19 until April 22.

The aim of the event is to promote different sporting codes to township sports fans, especially the youth who have an interest in learning about various types of sports.

They will start by hosting basketball clinics for the u-18s, u-16s, u-14s and u-12s, using the KwaThema Sports Complex as the main venue.

According to one of the committee members, Thandokuhle Kunene, the aim of the awareness campaign is mainly for educational purposes and sharing informative knowledge with other people.

“Basically making the people of the KwaThema area aware of the different sporting codes we have and their available programmes,” says Kunene.

The idea is to have cohesive sporting programmes around KwaThema.

They have basketball, cricket, netball, athletics, boxing, bodybuilding, soccer and drumming, which fall under arts and culture.

The formation of the committee is to help with processes surrounding the advancement in sports in KwaThema.
