SWAT team arrests suspected hit men in Tsakane

“A tactical entry was conducted into the room, where another 9mm pistol was found hidden in a mattress. Two male suspects found in the room were handcuffed,” explains Kgasago.

Tsakane – Three men, aged 27, 28 and 35, were nabbed by members of the EMPD Special Weapons and Tactics Unit (SWAT) on Thursday.

This was after the police received information about suspected hit men in the taxi industry.

The men were found in possession of two loaded unlicensed 9mm pistols in Tsakane.

EMPD spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilfred M. Kgasago says the SWAT unit members swooped on a house with multiple backyard rooms at 3.30am.

“Although numerous loud knocks by the metro police on all the back rooms yielded no response, the police could hear movements within the rooms.

“The police were forced to bring down the doors and to deploy the pepper spray.

“Next to the door a loaded 9mm was found on a chair.

“Two occupants, male and female, were found inside the dark room,” he says.

Kgasago says the man was arrested and later pointed out another room on the premises where he said the police would find another firearm.

“A tactical entry was conducted into the room, where another 9mm pistol was found hidden in a mattress. Two male suspects found in the room were handcuffed,” explains Kgasago.

One of the arrested trio was also wanted in connection with a double murder case and for escaping from a high court.

The trio was detained at Tsakane Police Station on charges of possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.

“Both recovered firearms had their serial numbers filed off.

“The suspects are expected to appear in the Tsakane Magistrate’s Court soon,” adds Kgasago.
