Virginity testing school in Tsakane
Virginity testing is a controversial practice which aims to determine whether a girl has had sexual intercourse or not, but also teaches the young girls about boys, sex, and coming of age and issues surrounding womanhood.
Tsakane – Ebuhleni Bezintombi is a virginity testing school in Tsakane Extension 19 ran by Doctor Mokoena (47), who says that he saw a need to open his own practice to restore African culture and customs after realising there weren’t any practice in the area.
“I started with my daughter who was 12 years old at the time because, we used to take her to another school but the school was far and it became costly for us in terms of transport”, says Mokoena. Mokoena has partnered with Gogo Shabangu who does the testing on the girls with the assistance of Mokoena’s wife, Nene.
The virginity testing school was established and registered in 2015.
