The Simunye Sonqoba Men’s Burial Club hosted a memorial event on May 18 for their members who have died.

KwaThema – The Simunye Sonqoba Men’s Burial Club hosted a memorial event on May 18 for their members who have died.

This event was part of the celebration of their 20th year anniversary.

“We invited their widows and children to remind them that they are still loved and cared for by the club.

“This was also to show them our clubhouse that their husbands helped to build,” says club public relations officer, Mthetheleli Mini.

The event included candle lighting, a sermon and lunch with the families.

Mini added that if the families wanted to continue with the membership after the main member has died, they can.

“The widows and their families are family to us and as such, can continue with the membership until the last covered member is deceased,” he adds.

The club is hosting another event on July 31 to raise funds for their final celebration event on September 21.
