Verbal Warning win the Brakpan Local Football Association League in Tsakane
Jack says if these games are anything to go by, the future of amateur football is bright.
Verbal Warning took home first prize after becoming the champions of the Brakpan Local Football Association (LFA) League in a two-leg final.
The first leg was played on May 19 at the Langaville Extension One ground, where Verbal Warning beat Black Stars 4–1.
“Verbal Warning was very dominant in the first leg, where they scored a whopping four goals,” says EK FM Sports Front host and Brakpan LFA local administration officer Votile Jack.
Verbal Warning went into the second leg with a 4–1 aggregate and lost the match 2–0.
They won the league on a 4–3 aggregate.
“In the second leg, Black Stars came back guns blazing and were trying to get as many goals as they could, but they lost the match on aggregate,” explains Jack.
“We feel really happy about the results this weekend and are now getting ready for the play-offs,” says Verbal Warning team manager Ntokozo Ndlovu.
Black Stars coach Owethu Skiti says, “We played well all season and the win would have been a bonus.
“I am happy with my players and this serves as a lesson for us to go forward more next season.”
The fight for third and fourth place was won by TBOESA, who won on a 3–2 aggregate after winning their first-leg game against Bazingeli Rovers with a score of 1– 0.
They drew 1–1 in the second-leg game.
“I am very disappointed as we had the chance to make to the finals but missed it right at the end.
“We will be looking at promoting some players from our development side in the hopes of making it to the finals in the next two years,” says TBOESA coach Thabo Hlabathi.
Bazingeli Rovers coach Vusi Khumalo says, “We are very disappointed because last year we came fourth as well, which shows a lack of growth as a team.
“It is especially disappointing because we were winning all season only to lose it at the end.”
Jack says if these games are anything to go by, the future of amateur football is bright.

“Since we levelled the playing field by ensuring all teams had home and away games, they have been playing better and the stands are getting fuller, which is great to see,” concludes Jack.
Verbal Warning will be playing in the regional play-offs from June 28 to 30 at a venue that will be confirmed at a later date.
