Six suspects have been arrested in KwaThema

KwaThema – Six suspects were arrested following a high-speed chase by the EMPD officers on Thursday.
Police officers acted swiftly after receiving information about a suspicious-looking red Toyota Conquest with six male occupants.
The group was apprehended at the intersection of Baduza and Moshoeshoe streets in KwaThema.
EMPD spokesperson Supt Wilfred Kgasago says the chase led to the arrest of the occupants as well as the recovery of four unlicensed 9mm pistols and ammunition.

“Two suspects were found with the unlicensed firearms on their person and the other two were uncovered in the vehicle.
“Preliminary investigations pointed to the suspects being involved in several murder cases registered at KwaThema Police Station in April this year.
“The vehicle was identified as operating as a taxi and linked to incidences of terrorising of the local community,” he says.

Kgasago says the arrested six suspects were charged at KwaThema Police Station for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and were expected to appear in the KwaThema Magistrate’s Court on Friday past.
