Siblings die from suspected smoke inhalation

“We are appealing to the community to make sure the fire in the coal stoves or braziers is put out before going to sleep,” says Maass.

Langaville – Two boys, aged four and eight, were killed by suspected smoke inhalation from a burning brazier while sleeping on Tuesday at a residence in Cornwell Street, Ext Seven, Langaville, Tsakane.

The family had the brazier burning throughout the night.

Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu says the paramedics declared the boys dead on scene and the mother was rushed to hospital for medical treatment.

Tsakane SAPS station commander Col Johannes Maass expressed his heartfelt and sincere condolences to the family for losing their loved ones in such a sad manner.

“We are appealing to the community to make sure the fire in braziers or stoves is put out before going to sleep,” says Maass.
