Metro says open powerboxes are a result of constant tampering

Langaville – On June 28, the African Reporter published a story about an open powerbox in Langaville.
The metro has responded to an enquiry sent by the paper and Nhlanhla Cebekhulu, divisional head of communication and media relations for the City of Ekurhuleni, says: “The City is currently rolling out upgraded protective structures with new access control technology in order to prevent unauthorised access.

“The open boxes are a result of continuous tampering and vandalism due to illegal connections/meter bypasses.
