Join Siyabonga Africa for Mandela Day
The organisation aims to reach about 500 homeless people.
Kwatsaduza – Siyabonga Africa is inviting the community of Kwatsaduza to a Mandela Day outreach programme, Walk with Dignity.
The campaign will kick-start from July 15 to 19 in Brakpan, Benoni, Springs, Germiston and Boksburg.
Mercy Mathebula, fund-raiser of Siyabonga Africa, says they decided to wash homeless people’s feet within the Ekurhuleni region as part of Walk with Dignity’s Street to Feet project, a project that feeds the homeless.
“We have noted that many of these homeless people have cracked heels, sores and blisters as they do not have proper shoes.

“Therefore, on the day, we are going to wash their feet and give them a pair of socks and possibly a pair of shoes,” explains Mercy.
On the day, free food and information on medical care services will be provided and they will also be educated on the importance of personal hygiene.
The organisation aims to reach about 500 homeless people.
Mercy says for this outreach to be successful they are inviting people from surrounding areas to join them by volunteering, and anyone who would like to donate is welcome to do so.
“We are asking the community to assist us with socks, shoes, gloves, antiseptics, bar soap, cotton wool and some warm clothing items,” says Mercy.
