KwaThema – Police are investigating a case of hijacking after a silver Audi A4 was hijacked along Rapodile Street, KwaThema, on Sunday morning.

The victim alleged he was driving along Rapodile Street when he approached the stop sign on the corner of Shabangu and Rapodile Street.

He saw four unknown men who seemed to be walking across the road, he waited to allow them to cross.

Then suddenly they opened his car door and at gun point one of the males ordered him to shift from the driver’s seat.

KwaThema police spokesperson Const Media Khoza says the men drove the victim to the Caltex garage on Shabangu Street where, on arrival, they searched him and demanded his bank cards and bank PIN, which he provided.

“One of the suspects who had gone to withdraw the victim’s money came back angry after attempting to withdraw money from the nearby ATM and found nothing in his account.

“The suspects then arranged alternative transport, a red car which they used to drive off with the victim.

“They dropped him off in the Langaville area,” she explains.

Khoza says police are on the lookout for the suspects and the vehicle.

KwaThema SAPS station commander Col Mareketle Thobejane further urged motorists to be more vigilant when driving, especially at intersections as this is where they are mostly targeted.
