Gauteng district Grade Seven learners rewarded for their hard work

“We are proud of the learners who excelled and received recognition for the hard work they have been doing since the beginning of the year.”

KwaThema – The Gauteng East District Circuit Two Cluster Three primary schools’ Grade Seven learners were rewarded for academic excellence at a ceremony at Menzi Primary School last Friday.

The schools included Zithembeni Primary School, Ntokozweni Primary School, Laerskool Dunnotar, Muzomsha Primary School, Qedusizi Primary School, Menzi Primary School, KwaThema Primary School and Langaville Primary School.

The awards are the brainchild of the cluster leader, Godfrey Mononyana, and are aimed at rewarding learners for their hard work.

Each school nominated learners according to their performance level in their subjects.

They also put forward their top performers at cluster level.

Ntokozweni Primary School administrator Thuto Morake says the awards are meant to encourage and motivate the learners to perform at their best in class.

“They also encourage healthy competition among the learners, even beyond the borders of each school, because they get to compete against their counterparts in the area.

“We are proud of the learners who excelled and received recognition for the hard work they have been doing since the beginning of the year.

“This shows that it doesn’t matter where one is studying, be it private schools or public schools, but with dedication from the learners and teachers and with the help of the community, we are able to produce great results,” he says.

Morake says the hard work of the teachers is also recognised via the awards.

“We are calling and urging teachers, parents and the SGB members to continue motivating the learners,” he says.

Deputy principal of Ntokozweni Primary School, Thandeka Zulu, says the awards will be held annually.

Zulu says the awards are not focused on the achievers alone, but are also meant to also motivate all the learners in different grades to strive for excellence in their studies.

The overall circuit winner title was given to Thembisile Modisane, a Grade Seven learner at Ntokozweni Primary School.
