Local sportsmen nominated in Gauteng Sports Awards
Coach Aubrey Mathibela says even though they didn't win anything at the awards they appreciate the recognition by the provincial government.
KwaThema – KwaThema Disability Sports Academy was nominated and made it to the finals at the Gauteng Sports Awards on Saturday.
The team was nominated in two categories, which included the team of the year with disability. Their player, Nthabisang Letageng, was nominated in the category of Sports Woman of the Year with Disability.

Coach Aubrey Mathibela says even though they didn’t win anything at the awards they appreciate the recognition by the provincial government.
“We were nominated in the same categories with some of the top sportsmen which is a big deal for us as a team.
“Our players are hard workers and dedicated to become world recognised athletes in different sporting codes.

“We wouldn’t have made it to the finals if it wasn’t for the support of local metro, the parents and the community at large.
“ We will forever be grateful for the continuous we receive,” he explains.
