Tsakane – A security guard was shot and killed while another sustained injuries during a business robbery at Tsakane Mall on Wednesday.
The suspects entered the facility dressed in Eskom uniforms claiming they were to fix a faulty electrical connection.
Tsakane police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu confirmed that one guard, aged 47, was certified dead at the scene by paramedics scene while the other was rushed to hospital.

“The Eskom impersonators attacked and tied up the security guards and cleaners in the guardroom of the mall.
“They then proceeded to the ATMs inside the mall with the intention of destroying them to get access to the money. “Unfortunately their mission was disturbed by the police who arrived before they took the money,” she explains.
Mngomezulu says the men fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla.

“The exact number of suspects that were inside the mall is not clear at this stage.
“No one has been arrested and the investigation is still underway,” she explains.
