Taxi violence body count increases

Spokesperson for the Brakpan SAPS Capt Pearl van Staad explains that two males in their late 40s were fatally shot on Tuesday.

On Tuesday after 2pm, police were called to a shooting on North Boundary Road in Brakpan.

On arrival, they found a white Toyota Hilux bakkie which had lost control and came to a standstill at the robot opposite Carnival City.

According to witnesses, two occupants in a silver grey Nissan Murano stopped next to the bakkie and fired shots at them.

Then the suspects fled the scene.

The driver and his colleague were certified dead on the scene.

It is confirmed that the victims are both taxi owners and are affiliated with the Johannesburg, Benoni, Brakpan, Springs, Secunda and Witbank Taxi Association (JBBSSW).
