Local police have opened an inquest docket after the body of an infant was found in a Modder East veld on Wednesday morning.

Springs police spokesperson Capt Johannes Ramphora says a police officer on duty was informed by community members about a body in the veld next to Cathkin Crescent.
No arrests have been made.
