Centre celebrates women
Gibela Rail Transport Consortium in partnership with Inxusa Community Project secure some essentials for you women in Duduz

Duduza – Women and girls from disadvantaged backgrounds in Duduza received gifts from Gibela Rail Transport Consortium and Inxuso Community Project as part of Women’s Month celebrations at the organisation on Wednesday.
Girls and young women were gifted with school shoes and feminine hygiene products.
According to Loyiso Jiya, from Gibela, the rail company made an informed decision to initiate a programme that empowers young girls living in disadvantaged circumstances to lead fulfilling lives.

“We decided to partner with Inxuso Community Project because the organisation focuses on alleviation and drug rehabilitation, and a weekly soup kitchen.
“This is one way of contributing towards personal change in the lives of young girls, as well as to strengthen and capacitate community-based programmes that can intervene in the lives of girls living in difficult circumstances,” he said.
Jiya explained various other community drop-off initiatives are planned throughout the month, bringing Gibela’s
contribution to a total of 300 school shoes and 600 hygiene packs.
“It is a difficult reality for some girls who can miss up to 50 days of school per year due
to a lack of access to adequate feminine hygiene products.
“The lack of access to such products puts a burden on the personal dignity and well-being of young girls.
“Achieving equitable dignity in South Africa requires a special intervention for girls to manage their needs with normalcy and dignity,” he added.
