Ama-Gabhadiya concluded Women’s Month in pink and white
Ama-Gabhadiya Fun Walk held on August 29 in Kwa-Thema observed Women’s month through a pink and white themed walk.
Kwa-Thema – Ama-Gabhadiya hosted a fun walk in Kwa-Thema in commemoration and conclusion of Women’s Months at the Kwa-Thema Community Hall on August 29.
The walk featured a 5km and 10km distance with a pink and white theme. There was also an aerobics session.
The event received support from individuals and organisations. Seipati Dhludhlu, founder of the group explained the significance of the walk.
“Above Women’s Month, it is important to keep health and fit. The aim was also to raise awareness on the impacts of bullying, drugs and gangsterism in schools.

“We need to advocate and raise awareness against these social ills as a ways of fighting against them,” she explained.
Dhludhlu cited that the walk was gender neutral and not only for women.
“Seeing men come to support is overwhelmingly beautiful. We have people who travelled all the way from Daveyton and surrounding areas just to support the initiative,” she said.
She further explained that when she founded her group, the goal was to promote health and fitness in the township, to make such activities accessible within the township.

Participant Kamogelo Mokoatlo took part in the 10km walk.
“I have been trying to stay fit and active and participating in this walk served the right purpose. I am beyond grateful to still have such events within our community.
“They not only honour women but also unite and uplift us. We do not just walk or run, we socialise and build lasting relationships,” she said
The event also honoured Kwa-Thema legends and organisations who have contributed in the success of the Kwa-Thema township. Those honored revived goodie bags and certificates in recognition for their hard work.
