Father of baby gets life sentence

Father gets life imprisonment.

Duduza – A 49-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of his seven-month-old baby. Lungu Dlamini was sentenced by the Pretoria High Court sitting in Benoni on October 15.

In February 2019, the father was arrested in Cool Breeze for whipping his daughter, Naledi Ngwenya, to death with a garden hose.

He claimed the infant was possessed by demons. Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the case shocked the whole community and the country. The family of baby Naledi believe justice has been served.

“Though it cannot bring back their baby, they will find closure now that the person responsible will spend the rest of his life behind bars,” said Manaka.

 

Father arrested on rape charge

Duduza SAPS station commander Lt Col Bheki Mhlungu praised the outstanding work by police – from the members who attended the scene to the detectives from the Serious and Violent Crime Unit in ensuring the killer was arrested and evidence was presented without delay to ensure justice was served.
