Hijacked vehicle recovered at Tsakani Mall

“The car was reported hijacked in November in Elsburg,” he said.

Tsakani – A stolen charcoal Toyota Avensis was recovered by the EMPD after a relative of the car’s owner identified it parked next to Tsakani Mall last Thursday.
Police who were patrolling in the area were flagged by a couple who informed them the vehicle belonged to one of their relatives and it was recently stolen during a hijacking.

EMPD spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said police responded promptly and the vehicle was surrounded.
“Two men with two women found in the vehicle were arrested after the officers established the registration/number plates displayed do not correspond with the licence disk.
“The car was reported hijacked in November in Elsburg,” he said.

He added the group is facing charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and will appear in the Tsakani Magistrate’s Court soon.
The recovered car was impounded at the Van Ryn Deep Vehicle Pound in Benoni for safekeeping.
