Springs – Three trucks were torched by unknown perpetrators on the N12 freeway on Friday evening.
Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu said the driver of the first truck was travelling in the direction of Emalahleni when he saw a person starting a fire in the middle of the road ahead.
The driver slowed down to see what was happening and realised there were other people walking around and firing shots at the truck.

“He got out of the truck and ran for safety and called for help,” she said.
Two hours later, at 11.30pm, police were alerted to another incident near the Springs off-ramp.
The two trucks were travelling towards Benoni.
“The same modus operandi was used for both vehicles.
“The two drivers also managed to get out and run away, and they watched the trucks burning from a distance,” said Mngomezulu.
