Weekend crime successes

Kwatsaduza – Fifty-seven suspects were arrested in the Ekurhuleni East District policing precinct over the weekend.
Police stations in this precinct include Devon, Kwa-Thema, Tsakani, Duduza, Nigel, Dunnottar and Springs.
The suspects were arrested for a number of offences, which included possession of drugs, drunk driving, assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm, possession of stolen property, theft, drunk in public, dealing in drugs, armed robbery, house burglary, business burglary, reckless and negligent driving and shoplifting.
Illegal immigrants were also nabbed.

Tsakani police spokesperson Sgt Lerato Mngomezulu said the arrests were a result of different operations conducted in different areas through well coordinated efforts by detectives, sector policing and other stakeholders.
“All arrested suspects are expected to appear in the different courts in the course of the week,” she said.
