Man arrested with live ammunition in Kwa-Thema

Kwa-Thema – A man in his 40s was arrested for possession of an unlicensed firearm and eight rounds of ammunition on Thursday.
The arrest came about when Const Thapelo Nyakale and Const Moithari Major were conducting regular crime prevention patrols along Thathahane Street in Highland.
Kwa-Thema police spokesperson Const Nkululeko Magudulelo said Nyakale noticed a man acting suspiciously when they approached in a marked police vehicle.

“He immediately alerted WO Masilo Ramatladi of his suspicions and they approached the man.
“During the body search, they found a 9mm Norinco firearm with no serial number,” he explained.
The man broke free from police and ran away, with officers giving chase.
He was eventually apprehended and arrested.
The firearm will be sent for ballistics testing to ascertain whether it has been used in the commission of any crime.
