
Duduza – Operations conducted over the weekend by police stations within the East Ekurhuleni district resulted in the arrest of 76 people.
Police stations involved included Duduza, Dunnottar, Devon, Kwa-Thema, Nigel, Tsakani and Springs.
The arrests were carried out during various police operations, which included crime prevention, sector policing, tracing by detectives and collaboration between law-enforcement agencies, such as the EMPD and other SAPS departments.

Some of the arrests were made during a high-density operation conducted in Tsakani through coordinated operations with a focus on drugs, liquor, vehicle control points and saturation patrols to maintain order.
Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the arrested offenders face charges of rape, armed robbery, assault, house break-in and theft, possession of drugs, possession of suspected stolen property, drunk driving, theft out of motor vehicle and possession of and dealing in drugs.
“This is to enforce the law to ensure the community is safe.
“All arrested suspects are expected to appear in different magistrate’s courts during the week,” he explained.
