Joe Mzamani Road attracts accidents
“We fear that at this rate one might not be lucky and lose not only their cars but their lives too.”
Kwa-Thema – Ward 80 councillor Wilson Busakwe is urging residents to abide by the rules of the road when driving along the newly constructed Joe Mzamani Road.
The call comes after a series of accidents were recorded along this road since it was recently opened for use.
On Monday morning, the community was awakened by a loud bang after a driver lost control of his vehicle and drove into a ditch.
The car was badly damaged, but the driver survived and was rushed to a local hospital. Busakwe said there are sharp curves on the road and if one is driving at a high speed, control of the vehicle might be lost and motorists could drive into the ditches on both sides of the roads.
“We fear that at this rate one might not be lucky and lose not only their cars but their lives too. We also need to consider other road users, which include pedestrians,” he said.
Busakwe urged residents to abide by the rules of the road on all inner roads/residential roads in the area as well.
“They were constructed to make our lives bearable and not to put our lives and safety at risk,” he added.
