Tsakani- Residents will be relieved to know that the 13-mega litre Zulu/Xhosa reservoir is nearing completion.
The reservoir is set to bring a 36-hour water storage capacity within reach.
According to a statement released by the City of Ekurhuleni, the township has a population of over 150 000 residents.

The construction of the Zulu/Xhosa reservoir started on January 7, 2019, but completion was affected by a series of challenges that included community unrest, labour-related issues, adverse ground conditions due to the occurrence of collapsible soils, and Covid-19 restrictions.
The reservoir will be supplied with water from the Zulu pump station, which gets its water from Rand Water via 450mm and 800mm diameters parallel pipelines.
Ultimate deliverables at this site:
• A 13ml circular reinforced concrete reservoir and valve chambers
• Associated pipework, inlet and outlet arrangements and valves, including control valves
• Stormwater drainage
• Guardhouse
The Zulu/Xhosa reservoir will be delivered at a value of R31 008 285.70 (excluding VAT).
