Ward committee ensure school readiness

Kwa-Thema – Ward committee members in Ward 74 visited primary schools in the area to monitor that Covid-19 regulations are adhered to when school re-opened on Monday.
The group assisted with the sanitising of learners and school staff members to ensure that hygiene measures are set in place.

This was part of the school re-opening programme to observe that measures are in place.
Ward 74 councillor Thulani Simelane added that they also visited the schools to identify areas that may require strengthening for the purposes of smooth learning and teaching.

“Our role as leaders and members of the community is to ensure that our children are learning in a favourable environment,” said Simelane.
“We can not respond only when schools are facing challenges but be there to offer a helping hand at all times.”

Simelane added that this is part of their regular visits to the schools and so far he has adopted Theo Thwala Primary School.
“Before the schools opened, we visited them to clean and help the school to ensure that it is ready for the learners. We are encouraging members of the community to join in the campaign to make our schools a safe environment for learning,” he added.
