Hijacked cars recovered

Over last weekend, police with the help of residents arrested three suspects in Tsakani for possession of hijacked vehicles.

Tsakani – Residents of Kwatsaduza have been living in fear due to the alarming number of hijackings.
Over the weekend, police with the help of residents arrested three suspects in Tsakani for possession of hijacked vehicles.
This is after police and a vehicle tracking company followed a tracking signal to where a hijacked Nissan Hardbody was concealed.

Duduza police spokesperson Sgt Harry Manaka said the trio were cornered at an address in Extension 19, Tsakani.
“Police investigation led to the further recovery of two more vehicles suspected to have also been hijacked in the same area.
“During the raid, police also recovered eight cellphones belonging to different people, most of them from the Mpumalanga area,” he explained.
In another incident, a suspect was fatally wounded when residents attacked him after he attempted to hijack a vehicle in Langaville Ext Six in Tsakani.

The suspect fired gunshots at the mob but they continued chasing him.
In a separate incident in Duduza, police officers put the brakes on two would-be hijackers and prevented them from carrying out the crime.
Manaka said the suspects fled but their firearms and cellphones were left at the scene.
